Video: Police ‘Kill Man’ And Officer Is Hurt

A policeman wounded in a shoot-out with a gunman in north London was saved after a bullet his radio, according to Sky News sources.

An investigation is under way after the armed man was shot dead by officers, in Ferry Lane, Tottenham, at 6.15pm on Thursday.

The extent of the wounded policeman’s injuries was not known, but he was later discharged from hospital.

Sky sources believe the officer may have escaped more serious injury because his radio got in the way of a bullet.

The incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) by the Metropolitan Police.

An IPCC spokesman said: “We do not know the order the shots were fired. We understand the officer was shot first before the male was shot.”

Jay Crowned, 39, who lives locally, named the dead man as “Mark”, a father of four in his late 20s.

She said he had three girls and one boy and described him as “a good daddy”.

David Akinsanya, 46, said he arrived at the scene moments after the incident.

He was told by a witness that a police officer had shouted to the man to stop “a couple of times”, but the man had not heeded the warning.

The witness, who lives next to the spot where it happened, then heard four shots ring out, said Mr Akinsanya.
