An alliance of eight groups representing older people has called on the next government to deliver the long overdue National Positive Ageing Strategy.

The Older & Bolder Alliance has set out five priorities for parties and candidates to address if they are to win older people’s votes.

They include Fairer Health Care, Secure Pensions, Improved Local Transport, Greater Involvement for older citizens and delivery of the ageing strategy.

Older & Bolder Director Patricia Conboy said the issues are not only critical for older people but also for people of all ages in Ireland.

I am the Chairperson a recently set up association representing Ex & Retired Members of the Irish Defence Forces of Ireland.
This Association was set up to try and address the erosion of the Pension, that is the only means by which a large number of Retired Soldiers depend upon to survive, without in most cases any other type of benefit, even if they are not in good health, due to service in the military and also service on Over Seas Missions, where prior to and during the 6 months plus Over Seas, we get inoculated with all sorts of stuff.
It is my opinion that some people have been affected by these inoculations and this may the the root cause of some of the bad health issues that some Retired Soldiers are experiencing at the later stages of their Army Life and more so when they Retire from the Army.

For those of us who have completed 31 years plus service, at reaching 65 we loose 10 years of Increments and this means a loss of €3,000/€4,000 per year, making it impossible to take care of our health issues.
We would appreciate some kind of Alliance with your Group in anticipation of meeting stiff resistance when we try to fight this up-coming problem.

    Yours sincerely,

    Peter Nolan
    Chairman XPDFA
