Tallaght: Cocaine Mixing House Discovered By Gardai During Search

A 39-year-old man has been charged after gardaí seized over 100kg of cannabis in Co Louth.

A 39-year-old man has been charged after gardaí seized over 100kg of cannabis in Co Louth.

The seizure is part of a joint garda/PSNI operation targeting a criminal gang in Northern Ireland, which is sourcing drugs from a gang in Dublin.

Officers from the Garda National Drugs Unit stopped a northern-registered car just after it drove northbound through the toll plaza at Drogheda.

They found 30kg of cannabis herb and another 70kg of cannabis resin. The drugs have an estimated street value of around €810,000.

The man from Belfast was arrested and questioned in Balbriggan Garda Station.

He is due before Dublin District Court tomorrow morning.

The PSNI also carried out a number of searches in Northern Ireland as part of the investigation.

The car, which was registered to a taxi company in Belfast, has also been seized.

In a separate investigation, officers from the Garda National Drugs Unit and the Tallaght Drugs Unit discovered a cocaine mixing factory in a house in Tallaght tonight.

They found 0.5kg of cocaine, a weighing scale and bags, as well as 20,000 ecstasy tablets.

The drugs have an estimated street value of €135,000.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested and is being questioned at Tallaght Garda Station.
