Two men have been arrested after gardai seized cannabis plants with an estimated street value of half a million euro.

Around 1,000 plants were uncovered during a search of commercial premises in the Drumcondra area of Dublin on Saturday afternoon.

It was said to be part of an ongoing garda investigation.

The two men arrested at the scene are in their 30s.

They are being detained under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act, 1996, at Bridewell Garda Station and can be held for up to seven days.

Two men have been arrested after gardaí discovered a large cannabis growing facility at a dry cleaners in Dublin city.

Officers from the Garda National Drugs Unit raided a dry cleaners in Drumcondra this afternoon and found a sophisticated lighting and irrigation system for growing cannabis on three floors.

Around 1,000 plants with an estimated street value of over €400,000 were seized.

The two men, aged in their 30s, are being held at Bridewell Garda Station.
